Wii outsells Wii U

Wii U is really struggling Nintendo's own results show; just 300,000 consoles sold in last 3 months
Nintendo sold just 300,000 Wii People in the first 3 months of the year.

The organization unmasked the amount since it published its financials going back 3 months of its 2012 financial year.

Income for the year hit ¥635.42bn (£4.2bn). That has been 5.2 per penny lower than the business forecast. Analysts had predicted that the business would skip its targets.

Nevertheless, it totally missed its web income forecast by very nearly 50 per cent. It had forecast a web income of ¥14bn (£920bn) for the 12 weeks finishing March 2013, but created ¥7.1bn (£420.8m)

Nintendo blamed "weaker than estimated sales" of both 3DS and Wii U. Additionally, it said the currency areas had had an impact.

As a result, Nintendo created a loss in ¥43.2bn (£284m). That has been down but on last year's loss of ¥60.86bn (£403m).

Nevertheless, it's the reduced sales results for the Wii U which are catching the headlines.

The console has sold just 3.45m devices since it was introduced at the end of November.

On the other hand to the Wii U, the Wii sold 2.65m devices throughout the exact same position following launch (Jan - Mar 07 vs Jan – Mar 13). During the time, Nintendo just could not keep up with demand and the console was often sold out, with big waiting provides at retailers.

That statistic is made a lot more damning when you realise the Wii – despite being six year older compared to the Wii U – still managed to outsell its successor throughout the exact same three months.

In accordance with Nintendo's own results, the 3.98m Wiis were sold since its new console launched. That's 53,000 more Wiis sold than Wii Us.

Nintendo has said so it thinks that when significant computer software brands start transport later in 2010, sales may pick up.

Nevertheless, with such reduced sales, it's probable merchants may start climbing right back the amount of cabinets they devote to the Wii U. If that starts occurring before those activities arrive, then a console is going to be in real trouble.
